About us

Dr Mahadik Agro Research Center was established and managed by Dr. Dilipkumar Mahadik, an Environmentalist,  at village Bhagad in June 2015, in the fond memory of his late parents, late Narayan Mahadik - warrior of WWII -and Late Sau Parvatibai). This center doubles up as a research center and an educational and Eco-Agro tourism center. It has a vast collection of cultivated and naturally growing wild plants (including IUCN red listed - endangered plants) and local medicinal plants.  Various Agricultural activities are being carried out here. It encourages sustainable development. The entire area runs on solar power with the sparing use of conventional fuel where it's unavoidable. Other facilities - cycling, hiking, trekking, swimming, white water rafting at Kundalika river, bullock cart ride, etc.

Excellent site for camping/ Adventure/ Agrotourism/ Ecotourism

Sprawling over 15 acres of land, the DMARC poses as an excellent site for camping as well. Kundalika River being just 3 km away is easily accessible for white water rafting activities throughout the year. Its approved by DoT, Govt of Maharashtra as center for agrotourism.

Agri research 

The center is dedicated to study on endangered plants of Westernghat. Creating awareness among the rural n urban folks, propagation, and distribution of saplings is the basic objective.  International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) redlisted Plants are native to the region- Arjuna (Terminalia arjuna) Kallavi, the Flame of the Jungle (Gloriosa superba, ) Kali musli( Curculigo orchioides), Wild jackfruit ( Artocarpus hirsutus),  Ashok (Saraca ashoka),  Balsam, Terda ( Impetiens balseamia), Sarpgandha (Serpentina rauwolfia) and more. 

Agriculture...

The cultivation of local crops like rice, turmeric, cereals, and vegetables is undertaken here. Visitors can have hands-on experience in agricultural activities.

Hospitality and Tourism  Education...

Various short-term courses in hospitality and tourism are conducted with an earn-and-learn scheme.
