Formerly Dr. Mahadik Krishi Paryatan v Sanshodhan Kendra — a Maharashtra State Tourism Department-approved agro-tourism and research centre on a 15-acre plot in Kolad, Raigad District.
DMARC was established in 2017 on 15 acres in Kolad, on the Raigad plateau of the Western Ghats, with a simple aim: bring agriculture, research and tourism onto the same piece of land. The centre operates under the Dnyanvardhini Education Society and is led by Dr. Dilipkumar Mahadik, an educationist and environmentalist with a PhD in Environmental Science.
What began as a research and training initiative grew into a full agro-tourism destination, while keeping its original mission — agricultural study and vocational education — at the centre of everything built on site.
Dr. Dilipkumar Mahadik founded DMARC and continues to lead it, alongside his work as an educationist within the Dnyanvardhini Education Society. His background in environmental science shapes the centre's emphasis on conservation and hands-on learning, alongside its tourism activities.
Eleven activities — kayaking, raft building and rafting, jungle trail, forest bathing, yoga, bird watching, hiking, air rifle shooting, archery, zipline and pottery — set across farm, forest and river.
Ongoing study on the farm itself, including a Western Ghats IUCN Red List plant conservation programme focused on identifying and propagating threatened native species.
Practical skills training connected to agriculture and rural livelihoods, delivered as part of the Dnyanvardhini Education Society's wider educational work.
The Western Ghats are one of the world's biodiversity hotspots. DMARC's research programme contributes to this by studying and conserving plant species from the region listed on the IUCN Red List, alongside its tourism and education work.
DMARC is approved by the Maharashtra State Tourism Department as an agro-tourism destination, and operates under the umbrella of the Dnyanvardhini Education Society.
